It seems like bullying behavior in our schools has become more prevalent or has it always been like this but now is highlighted more.  It is usually the child that is seen as “different” that becomes the target of bullying.
Is it natural for our children to experience bullying?  When did we learn that being different is unacceptable?  In reality, looking exactly the same is something we can never achieve.  So why do we work so hard to be the same if it is truly an illusion. It wouldn’t be a rainbow if there were only one color.  It wouldn’t be a forest if there were only one kind of tree, nor a beach with only one kind of pebble.  Life is like a tapestry with each one of us uniquely designed and interwoven to create the beauty of the whole.  Every single one of us has significance and if we were missing, our tapestry would have holes and be incomplete.  If enough of us were missing, it would begin to unravel.Let our children be taught to celebrate their differences, their own unique qualities and beauty.  Each one of them is here for a purpose that only they can deliver.  Let us prepare them well to have confidence in themselves, and love and compassion for others. “When the heart speaks, bullying cannot exist.” Let us all create our tapestry of life and joyously chase the rainbow.
