Each year our children enter the preschool or kindergarten school environments with excitement and anticipation, as well as some anxious moments and fears. They wonder “What will it be like in my new school?” and “Will it be fun or scary?”
As parents and educators, we know that bullying behavior is occurring within our schools and has been increasing every year. At the early childhood education level, however, we also know that we have the best opportunity to prevent this behavior from ever happening. With the right curriculum, we can teach the appropriate social and emotional behavior patterns necessary for our children to form positive relationships and demonstrate empathy and compassion for themselves and each other, creating a healthy and safe learning environment for all. As a school psychologist and administrator of special education, my life long passion has been to give children the foundation of knowing who they are, of being able to communicate with compassion, and forming positive relationships with others. "ZERO BULLIES FOR ALL KIDS" is a bullying prevention campaign that I created to counteract the rampant bullying behavior now occurring among our youth. |
Picture books that teach life-long behaviors.
It is my belief that in order to create a truly bully-free environment, it is critical to teach our children the appropriate alternative behaviors that are the antithesis to bullying. To support this mission, I've created picture books for children that focus on the real root of behavior changes. These books help children build the knowledge of who they are and to understand that each of us possesses special gifts to share with others. Through my books, a child learns to listen to their own heart before deciding what actions to take, so they automatically act with kindness and respect, laying the groundwork for important life-long skills.
